Soultouch is back in 2022!!!
Hi friend!
It's been a little while, and if you're reading these words, I very much appreciate your presence and for you still being here. I've honestly missed writing these little updates and sharing them. Most of all, I've really missed sharing the story and hearing your feedback on it.
The break was sorely needed, and through it, I came to a few different conclusions that are pretty new for me, writing-wise.
The first, and most surprising, is that I think I'm finally ready to say goodbye to doing NaNoWriMo officially in November. It gives me more stress than I want it to and it messes with my writing routine which works for me just fine the rest of the year. As much as it makes me a little sad, I think it no longer fulfills my needs as a writer anymore.
The second is part of my overarching intention for 2022, and that's to allow a bit more exploration and adventure in my life. I've been a pretty anxious planner most of my life, and while that coping skill definitely got me through some rough times, it's no longer working for me. I've realized that one of the things that makes writing most fun is a sense of adventure, and honestly, the best kinds of adventures are not meticulously planned. I'm honestly at my happiest when I can explore something new, and that requires a dash of risk and a healthy heaping of the unknown.
I'm going to try for a bit more relaxed post schedules this year. I'm still going to aim for two chapters a month, but the truth is that constantly creating during an ongoing global pandemic has been a lot like trying to use an overheated laptop which is already using 100% of its RAM. All of our RAMs are over capacity these days, and I'm definitely going to give myself a little bit more grace in that department.
That said, I have four complete chapters to share with you over the next month, and I am completely ecstatic about sharing them. I would love to know your thoughts, so feel free to message me however you wish (bonus points for messenger pigeons). I'm always happy to hear from you.
Much love, and happy 2022!
