I find switching medium can help with continuing to be creative even when one medium isn’t showing up for work. Jumping from writing to drawing or music. That sort of thing
Yes! I think some of us (me) definitely get sucked into "this is the only creative thing I should be doing" and forget other forms of creating exist even if we're interested in exercising them.
I definitely think I have foolishly believed that “nose to the grindstone” was the only way to create for a long time, whereas just playing in whatever strikes me is more freeing
Me too! Discipline is great but wow... I really forgot not to be too serious about everything some time in my 20s.
And creation is such a wide term, too. So many possibilities! I can figure out how to stack the towels in my linen closet and get the same fulfillment that my Serious Writing™ gives me.
